Lonesome George

Lonesome George is the last Abingdon Island Tortoise on the face of the Earth. When humans introduced goats to his island in the Galapagos, the goats ate so much of the tortoises' food that all his kin starved to death. Because he has no possible mate, Lonesome George is simply waiting to die in captivity and extinguish his species. But because he is only 80 and tortoises can live to 200, this is a wait that may last 120 years.
