I came across this story on the Truth And Beauty Bombs (www.truthandbeautybombs.com) forum, when they had a thread to submit the saddest stories. It's not my story, but it is the saddest thing I have ever heard:

"This little girl I used to babysit gave me this banner she made that said "I LOVE YOU" ... except it actually said "I LOVE YOU MOM" with "MOM" crossed out. She was like "do you want this? I made it for my mom but she didn't want it.""
